Dublin Zoo Welcomes Giraffe Calf in Time for Africa Day Celebrations
Dublin Zoo is delighted to announce the arrival of a newborn giraffe who was born at 11.45am on Monday morning. The male calf stands tall at 1.8 metres and weighs approximately 40kgs. Only five days old the giraffe calf will make his first appearance in the African Savanna this Saturday to celebrate Africa Day.

The African Plains will be alive with the sights and sounds of Africa and visitors will enjoy traditional music and dance, drumming workshops, face-painting, arts and crafts, storytelling, browsing the bazaar or tucking into African specialties in the onsite restaurant.

To celebrate Africa Day (21st May), Dublin Zoo is offering half price child entry (€5.25) at the gate on Saturday. The special offer Africa Day tickets can also be purchased online at www.dublinzoo.ie.
